About Me

The Disc Golf Beat

Old hole five at the NSRA course in Sedro-Woolley, WA.

Hello there, disc golfer.

First of all, I want to thank you for visiting my little piece of fun off of the course. I've been writing longer than I've been throwing and when I caught the disc golf bug I was truly excited to combine both passions.

My name is John Synco and I'm PDGA #42520. Unfortunately, I don't have an impressive tournament streak to look at, but I'm working on it.

I've messed with Frisbees all my life. I didn't throw a disc golf round until sometime after high school though. The year was 1996 and my home course for the year that I played was in Huntington Beach, CA. It was the same spread that Paul McBeth grew up playing, but he was just about six years old when I was there.

It's too bad I only played for that year. Maybe I could have taught Paul a thing or two.

What? It could have happened. I guess we'll never know.

I remember throwing a Discraft X-Clone and Magnet back then. I only remember that because I still had them when I picked up the sport again in 2008. I'm still using that Magnet today.

The Disc Golf Beat is my outlet to work on my writing skills and create content focusing on the sport I love. You can expect a lot of the posts to have a Pacific Northwest feel, because Washington is my home now.

If you are someone who remembers this blog being titled 400 Bound then I want to thank you for sticking around. I had to change the name, because it was bugging me. Plus, I believe I've accomplished my 400 foot drive goal. I will write about it as soon as I can verify it.

Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you enjoy reading this blog as much as I enjoy writing it.

Now get off the computer and go play.
